Wow…we made it to the final week of the regular season. The first year of the ELF’s fantasy manager has been a lot of fun and definitely gave every game this year a little extra intrigue.
If you are anything like me, you’re hoping to make one last push up the ELF fantasy leaderboard as the final week of the regular season kicks off this weekend.
With that out of the way, let me, Alex Malchow, take a look at some key players to consider in your lineup this week!
Last week’s top scorer is a shoe in for me this week. Weed was fantastic last week as he ran circles around the Hamburg Sea Devils with his legs, while also showing the accuracy needed to move the ball down the field through the air. This week he faces a Enthroners defense as he and the Cologne Centurions hope to finish the season with a 6-6 record.
The bruising British running back returned to the line up last week and had a solid game for the Bravos. In a must win game against Hamburg look for coach Rip Scherer to feed Obi the rock early and often as he knocked off the rust last week. Hamburg has really struggled tackling opposing playmakers and it could be a big day for Obi.
The former high school quarterback turned UCLA receiver has gone back in time for the Panthers lately stepping in at quarterback for Wroclaw the past few weeks. Listed as a WR on the ELF fantasy manager, I’d suggest putting Norwood and watching his passing, rushing, and receiving stats accumulate as he put up 31 points last week against the Frankfurt Galaxy.
Alex!?! Why bench Hennessey, he’s the possible HenVP? Because head coach Jordan Neuman doesn’t like to run up the score that’s why. Neuman has shown he’d rather put in a backup running back at quarterback than risk another injury to Hennessey . The veteran passer has already battled through a shoulder injury earlier this year and surely wants to save himself for another long run in the playoffs. Expect Hennessey to play one great half, build up a comfortable lead against the Mercenaries, and watch the rest of the game from the sideline.
Spiller has a chance to be the first European receiver to reach the one thousand yard mark in the shop history of the ELF. The Swiss talent faces a tough Stuttgart Surge defense, however it could play in his favor as the Mercenaries will likely be passing often trying to keep up with the high flying Surge. At the end of the day, I think the Surge will contain Spiller as they probably have the best secondary in the league, but that doesn’t mean he won’t make history.
The Raiders star running back hasn’t played since week 10 due to an injury. He’s expected to make his return this week in a “win and your in” game for the Raiders. In a do or die situation you might be tempted to take the “Italian Stallion” however against a Munich defense that’s ranked 3rd in rushing defense, I’ll leave him on the bench.
